Cardiologist warns of the risks of prolonged sitting on cardiovascular health

Dr. Khalid Al-Nimer, Consultant and Professor of Cardiology, has warned of the risks of sitting for very long periods on heart health, noting that sitting for more than eight hours a day is associated with a 20% increased risk of heart disease compared to those who sit for no more than four hours a day.

Dr. Al-Nimer based his warning on a study published in the specialized journal “JAMA Cardiology,” which provided an analysis of this aspect. The study addressed the relationship between daily physical inactivity and the increased likelihood of cardiovascular disease.

The consultant, Dr. Al-Nimer, called for reducing long periods of sitting, emphasizing the importance of ensuring regular movement throughout the day to lower the health risks associated with a sedentary lifestyle.
