U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security confirms support for ICE officer and donation fund participants

Department of Homeland Security Secretary William Ackman stated that he had planned to provide assistance to the separate donation fund for the family of Renee Nicole Goud, the woman killed during his service, but was unable to do so after the fund was closed.

The fundraising page created to support Jonathan Ross, an Arkansas-based individual with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) who fired “defensive shots” during an anti-ICE protest, shows that the largest contribution came under the name of William Ackman.

After hours of online controversy and speculation, Ackman, 59, came forward to confirm that he was the one who made the donation. On the “X” platform, Ackman emphasized his belief in the legal principle of “innocent until proven guilty,” noting that he insisted on supporting Jonathan Ross’s donation fund and had also planned to support Renee Goud’s family fund, but the page had closed by the time he attempted to donate.

The GoFundMe campaign set up to support Goud’s widow, wife, and children closed because donations exceeded $1.5 million.

Ackman added that what happened is a total tragedy, involving an officer trying to do his job and a protester who likely did not realize the officer would carry out a killing, but took an action in a moment that led to her death. He pointed out that the country’s strength lies in working together to address the complex problems tearing society apart.

According to federal authorities, Goud was killed after attempting to use her vehicle as a weapon against ICE personnel, striking Ross during an operation conducted in Minneapolis.

Videos documented the final moments of Goud’s life, showing one shot fired through the windshield, followed by two more through the open driver’s window. Ross had previously been injured in the line of duty during a ramming attack.
