Rice Giddens proves his value as a star for Arsenal and achieves more leadership in the Premier League

Rice Giddens has continued to flourish with Arsenal in the central attacking midfield position, especially since he played as a central defender with West Ham at the beginning of his transfer to the Emirates.

During this season, Giddens has played more passes into the penalty area than any other player in the Premier League—reaching 146 passes. He ranks tenth among players in terms of ball touches, creating scoring opportunities, and the number of times he has recovered possession.

Giddens has scored four goals in the Premier League this season, the highest figure for him after Viktor Gyökeres (five goals) and Leandro Trossard (five goals) among Arsenal players; the Belgian forward Trossard is his only teammate to record more than three assists.

At the same time, Giddens ranks first among Arsenal players for line-breaking passes (142) and progressive carrying distances (188).

Arteta said: “He is extremely consistent in everything you ask him to do, and that is what makes the difference.”

“He possesses the abilities and qualities necessary to do that, but he needs the consistency to perform, and he does it day by day; that is what you see in the performance.”

When told that this was the first time he had scored twice in a single league match, Giddens told Sky Sports: “This is an amazing statistic.”

“I haven’t scored many goals this season—only two before today—so scoring two goals today in an important victory felt like a great thrill. When you win and help the team as I did today, it adds a special character to the feelings.”

Giddens has scored five goals in 12 Premier League matches against Bournemouth, his highest tally against any other team in the league.
