Suspicions of Iranian protests being suppressed using Chinese surveillance companies
According to CNN, Chinese surveillance companies may have been used in efforts to suppress recent Iranian protests. Videos emerged during the protests showing demonstrators climbing surveillance camera poles and dismantling them.
Experts told CNN that Chinese companies have helped Iran build a sophisticated surveillance infrastructure over the past few years. This infrastructure demonstrates the use of advanced technologies, including big data, facial recognition, and artificial intelligence.
There were also reports of drones being used, as one individual sent a video of a drone flying over Tehran, stating that the city is swarming with them.
