The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced on Friday the discovery of the remains of the Valley Temple of King “Nyuserre,” who belonged to the Ancient Fifth Dynasty era. The discovery was made in the Abusir archaeological area in Giza governorate.
Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt, noted the importance of this archaeological discovery in a statement issued by the Ministry, explaining that the temple is one of the known Sun Temples in Ancient Egypt so far.
Dr. Khaled said that the Italian archaeological mission succeeded for the first time in uncovering more than half of the temple’s area. He pointed out that the visible remains indicate that the temple was a massive structure.
