Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta Announces the First Day of the Month of Shaban for the Year 1447 AH
Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta announced that Tuesday is the first of the month of Shaban for the year 1447 AH, after legally confirming that the crescent moon of the month was not sighted after sunset on Sunday, Rajab 29, corresponding to January 18.
An official statement issued by Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta, headed by Dr. Nazir Ayad, the Grand Mufti of the Republic, stated that the Sharia and scientific committees spread across various parts of the country sought to observe the crescent of the month of Shaban after sunset on Sunday, but visual sighting was not confirmed through the correct legal methods.
The House announced that Monday, January 19, is the completion of the month of Rajab for the year 1447 AH, and that Tuesday, January 20, is the first of the month of Shaban.
On this occasion, Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta extended its sincere congratulations to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, wishing him continued health and well-being. It also congratulated the people on the holy month.
