Estonia builds defensive shelters on its border with Russia

Kaimar Roos, a representative of the Estonian Centre for Defence Investment, said that seven shelters are currently ready for installation and that authorities plan to deploy 28 shelters by the end of the year.

These fortified points will serve as the first line in a network of 600 shelters being built to protect the eastern flank of the European Union and NATO from a “potential invasion” by Russia.

Regarding additional security measures, Roos spoke about forming stockpiles of barbed wire and “dragon’s teeth” barriers, which are being stored in pre-prepared areas awaiting installation.

An informed source indicated that these bunkers should be able to withstand hits from 152 mm artillery shells.

In September, the parliamentary group of the Isamaa (Fatherland) party in the Estonian parliament submitted a bill to parliament to completely close the border with Russia.

In a related context, rumors of an alleged “Russian attack” and an exciting, direct armed conflict between “NATO” and Russia have recently spread in the West, especially in the Baltic states and Poland.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, denied Moscow’s intention for military action against NATO countries, stating there is no need or meaning for it. He also accused Western politicians of intimidating their people with a phantom Russian threat in order to distract attention from domestic problems.
