An Ethiopian national was arrested in possession of 180 kilograms of the narcotic plant Khat in the Asir region.
The land patrols of the Border Guard in the Rabua sector of the Asir region announced the arrest of an Ethiopian national suspected of violating the border security system. The suspect was apprehended on suspicion of attempting to smuggle a large quantity of the narcotic Khat plant.
The quantity seized from the suspect is estimated at (180) kilograms of Khat.
The Border Guard land patrols noted that preliminary legal procedures against the detainee have been completed, and he, along with the seized items, has been handed over to the competent authorities for further details and subsequent trials.
Security authorities urged everyone to report any information they may have regarding any suspicious activities related to drug smuggling or promotion by calling the designated reporting numbers: (911) in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province; and (999) and (994) in the rest of the Kingdom’s regions; the General Directorate of Narcotics Control reporting number (995); or via email (Email: 995@gdnc.gov.sa).
The relevant authority promised confidentiality for the reports it receives, emphasizing that they will be processed with complete privacy to ensure the protection of the informant’s identity and rights.
