Tourism expert Salman Al-Qathami confirmed that winter tourism in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing increasing demand from local and international tourists, thanks to the diversity of destinations, moderate weather, and the expanded scope of events and activities held in various regions.
Al-Qathami explained that the winter season has become one of the most prominent tourism seasons in the Kingdom, as desert and historical destinations such as AlUla, Diriyah, Riyadh, and Hail attract visitors, in addition to winter camps and wild sites that witness remarkable activity during this period.
He pointed out that winter tourism is characterized by a diversity of experiences, from camping and land trips to visiting heritage sites and attending cultural and entertainment events, which has contributed to attracting different segments of visitors, whether families, youth, or adventure enthusiasts.
Al-Qathami noted that this winter movement has contributed to stimulating tourism and achieving a tangible economic impact through increased demand for accommodation facilities, transportation, and restaurants, alongside supporting small and medium enterprises and creating seasonal job opportunities.
He added that developing tourism infrastructure, improving service quality, and organizing events helped enhance the tourist experience, making winter tourism a preferred option within the Kingdom instead of traveling abroad during this season.
Al-Qathami concluded by emphasizing that winter tourism represents a fundamental pillar for diversifying tourism seasons and achieving sector sustainability, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to make the Kingdom a global tourist destination throughout the year.
