“Fake” Video Targets Children in Gaza and Deviates from Genuine Flood Posts
Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Several accounts on social media platforms have sparked widespread interest by sharing a video clip presented as evidence of children suffering from floodwaters submerging a tent in the Gaza Strip.
The video garnered high viewership and engagement across multiple social platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and TikTok. Posts distributing the video spanned various languages, including Arabic and English.
Despite its wide circulation, a careful examination by CNN Arabic revealed that the video does not represent real scenes. Instead, it is a sophisticated fake, entirely generated using generative artificial intelligence (AI) techniques.
This video is considered a new fraudulent post, appearing amidst the circulation of numerous other legitimate posts regarding flooding in the region, which have been reported by reliable media outlets.
