Joint Statement by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the League of Arab States, and the African Union Commission on Developments in Occupied Palestine

The joint statement of the consultative meeting regarding the ongoing developments in the occupied State of Palestine was issued today, Wednesday. The meeting was held with the participation of high-level leaders from the General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the League of Arab States, and the African Union Commission at the OIC General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In their joint statement, the three organizations emphasized the paramount importance of the peace plan recently announced by the United States of America, which was signed during the International Peace Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, in October 2025. This plan was co-sponsored by Egypt and the United States, with support from Qatar and Turkey, and is endorsed by the UN Security Council through Resolution No. 2803.

The statement noted that this plan serves as a genuine prelude to an immediate cessation of bloodshed in the Gaza Strip, confirming the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the occupied Palestinian territories, facilitating safe and comprehensive humanitarian aid access, and framing the path toward achieving a two-state solution.

The three organizations renewed their complete and strong condemnation of all statements issued by Israeli authorities regarding the one-way opening of the Rafah crossing. They emphasized their categorical rejection of any plans or attempts aimed at displacing the Palestinian people from the Gaza Strip or the West Bank. The statement condemned these practices as war crimes, violations of international humanitarian law, and an increasing threat to regional and international peace and security.

The organizations also warned against the systematic and hostile policies pursued by the occupation authorities intended to render the Gaza Strip uninhabitable. They strongly criticized the comprehensive blockade and systematic starvation of the Palestinian people, calling for the permanent, sustainable, and safe opening of the Rafah crossing and all remaining crossings, while allowing humanitarian organizations full access to provide aid without restrictions or obstacles.

The statement further highlighted the illegality of illegal Israeli settlements and the necessity of their complete dismantling and the evacuation of settlers. It demanded an immediate halt to all military incursions and arbitrary arrests, and opposition to any practices aimed at annexing occupied West Bank lands, including East Jerusalem.

The statement severely criticized the grave crimes committed against Palestinian prisoners in occupation jails, mentioning the assault on the cell of prisoner Marwan Barghouti. It called for the release of all Palestinian prisoners and detainees, disclosure of the fate of forcibly disappeared Palestinian citizens, and the provision of full legal protection for them.

The three organizations called for the imperative accountability of the Israeli occupation authorities for committing war crimes against the Palestinian people before the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice. They stressed their support for the Palestine Liberation Organization as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people and demanded full support for the government of the State of Palestine to enable it to exercise national sovereignty over all occupied land.

The organizations welcomed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s announcement of the “Emergency Alliance for the Financial Sustainability of the Palestinian Authority.” They also expressed their categorical support for the UN General Assembly resolution regarding the peaceful settlement of the conflict and the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice concerning illegal Israeli settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory.

In conclusion, the three organizations renewed their total commitment to implementing all UN resolutions and the international peace plan. They urged the international community to take practical and concrete steps to achieve the two-state solution, end illegal settlement, and provide the Palestinian people with all fundamental rights to self-determination, safe return, independence, and the establishment of their independent Palestinian state on the 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
