Celtic manager affirms faith in team’s ability to turn things around after Derby defeat to Rangers

Celtic manager Wilfried Nancy highlighted his commitment to his team’s management, expressing his belief that the team can “turn things around for the better” despite their decline in recent matches. This confirmation from the French manager comes after his team lost its sixth game in eight matches, falling in the “Derby” against Rangers.

Nancy alluded to a good performance by the team in the first half, when they managed to score the opening goal through Yang Hyun-jun, while missing other scoring opportunities. However, the home side regained their balance in the second half, capitalizing on the visitors’ defensive weaknesses. Youssef Chermiti managed to score twice, while Mikey Moore added a third goal, making the final score 3-1 in favor of Rangers.

This 3-1 defeat confirms Rangers’ progress, as they moved level on points with second-placed Celtic. The Parkhead side could fall six points behind Arbroath if the latter secures a victory against Livingston later Saturday morning.

While Celtic supporters organized a protest march against the club’s board after the match, Nancy spoke to BBC Scotland, saying: “It was sad because we gave more today, but once again we needed goals. In the second half, we conceded three goals resulting from handballs. It’s hard to accept, but this is the reality. It’s not about the players or the strategies; it’s about moments.”

He added: “This isn’t about me; it’s about showing sadness for the fans because I know the importance of this situation. I understand the sadness, but I also saw what we can do. We are mostly close, and there are many things that can be turned around. If that weren’t the case, I wouldn’t be speaking this way. I strongly believe we can turn things around for the better.”

He appealed to the fans, saying: “We are with the board.”
