National Center of Meteorology Clarifies Early Warning Stages and Their Significance

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has defined the stages of the early warning system and the indications of their classification.

The Center added, via the “X” platform, that the warning stage classifications include:

  • Notice (Tannouih): Requires raising the level of alertness and preparation.

  • Yellow Alert: Means the possibility of the region being affected by a weather phenomenon; it is issued 6 to 12 hours or more before the impact of weather phenomena.

  • Orange Alert: Indicates the possibility of the region being affected by a weather phenomenon, and caution and vigilance must be exercised.

  • Red Alert: Issued 6 to 12 hours or more before the impact of severe weather phenomena.
