Minnesota Governor demands prosecution of Department of Homeland Security regarding shooting.

Governor Tim Walz informed the White House Saturday morning that “the state’s judicial system has the final word” in the ongoing investigation, asserting that “the federal government cannot be trusted to manage the investigation.”

A spokesperson for the US Department of Justice stated that “the Department of Homeland Security itself will handle the investigation into the incident.”

I have told the White House that the state must lead the investigation.

Let state investigators deliver justice. While processing the scene, be peaceful and give them space.

The state provides the personnel to keep people safe – federal agencies must not hinder our ability to do so.

“Axios” quoted sources saying, “This is the second time this month that local law enforcement has reported federal agencies’ refusal to cooperate in conducting an investigation into the killing of a state resident by federal officials.”

The killing of the 37-year-old man in the city of Minneapolis has exacerbated tensions regarding the continued presence and conduct of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the state, while Walz immediately called on the Trump administration to withdraw thousands of immigration agents who have flooded the state in recent weeks.

Walz referred to video clips filmed at the scene, rejecting the administration’s initial accounts, describing them as “nonsense” and “lies,” and accusing federal officials of “fabricating stories” and “rushing to judgment.”

The Department of Homeland Security said that “the man was armed, and an immigration officer shot him when he resisted officers’ attempts to disarm him.”

“Axios” cited sources saying that “circulating video clips do not yet show the man attempting to reach for or brandishing a weapon.”

US President Donald Trump responded with a post on the “Truth Social” platform accusing the city mayor and the state governor of “incitement to sedition” with their rhetoric.

Trump expressed surprise at the angry reactions to the incident, explaining that “the deceased’s weapon was ready for use, forcing the forces to defend themselves.”
