Morocco National Team Loses 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Title to Senegal with Extra-Time Goal
Dubai, UAE (CNN) — The Moroccan national team lost to its Senegalese counterpart 1-0 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium on Sunday in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.
A goalless draw prevailed throughout the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final stage, as both teams were unable to secure a victory during the 90-minute regulation time.
It is noteworthy that the “Atlas Lions” missed a penalty in the final minute of regulation time, which prompted the officiating committee to proceed with two extra-time periods to determine the champion of the current edition of the African tournament.
The winning goal for the Senegalese “Teranga Lions” came in the extra period, as player Pape Gueye scored in the 94th minute with a shot from inside the Moroccan penalty area.
