The Muslim Council of Elders condemns the Israeli occupation’s approval to build 19 new settlements in the West Bank.
In an official statement, the Muslim Council of Elders condemned the Israeli occupation government’s decision to approve and legalize nineteen new settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories in the West Bank.
The Council affirmed its categorical rejection of these provocative practices, considering them a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of international legitimacy resolutions and a conspiracy against peace efforts.
The statement noted that this step comes within the context of changing the legal and historical status of the occupied territories and undermining the efforts made toward achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
The Muslim Council of Elders renewed its call to the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities toward the suffering of the Palestinian people, which has lasted for more than seven decades.
At the same time, the Council affirmed its absolute support for the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital.
