Bradley Barcola rescues Paris Saint-Germain with winning goal against Auxerre and secures first place

Paris Saint-Germain waited 79 minutes to score the winning goal in its match against Auxerre, as player Bradley Barcola managed to score the game’s only goal in the final minutes.

Barcola made his mark after receiving a pass from Ousmane Dembélé in a quick counter-attack, leaving him one-on-one with the goal to slot the ball into the net just as the Auxerre goalkeeper seemed to be coming out of the penalty area.

With this important victory, Paris Saint-Germain raises its tally to 45 points and occupies first place in the temporary standings, two points ahead of Lens, who faces a difficult match on Saturday afternoon against Marseille at home.

On the other hand, Auxerre remains in a difficult position to stay in the league, as its tally is frozen at 12 points in 17th place, with only goal difference separating it from bottom-placed Metz.

At the same time, a very strong match awaits Paris Saint-Germain against Newcastle next Wednesday in a final attempt to secure qualification for the top eight in the Champions League, especially after faltering in the previous round with a 1-2 loss to Portugal’s Sporting Lisbon.
