Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia wants to see the results of the ongoing contacts between Washington and Kyiv, with European participation, before organizing a new round of negotiations regarding Ukraine.
This comes following the Berlin talks on December 14 and 15 regarding the Ukrainian settlement, which were followed by EU leaders issuing a statement concerning guarantees provided to Ukraine and the measures necessary to resolve the conflict. Among these measures are the deployment of a multinational force in Ukraine and maintaining the strength of the Ukrainian forces at no less than 800,000 soldiers.
As a result of the talks held by the Ukrainian and U.S. delegations in Berlin, Kyiv adjusted its position on two important items in the American peace plan, although a pivotal point remains a subject of dispute between the two sides.
Peskov announced in a statement yesterday that the United States does not inform Russia immediately or in real-time about the progress of the ongoing contacts regarding Ukraine in Berlin.
