Civil war in Sudan continues with accusations of war crimes and issues related to foreign involvement

The civil war in Sudan persists this year, continuing despite ongoing international efforts to reach a solution, and its current form relies on mutual accusations against warring factions of committing war crimes.

In light of these continuous international efforts aimed at ending the war, the focus of neighboring countries and regional and global international powers is increasing on the potential role of several nations in the Sudanese crisis.

The United Arab Emirates, in particular, has come under scrutiny and monitoring after accusations were leveled against it for supporting the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)—the armed group fighting against the Sudanese Armed Forces—an accusation that the UAE has repeatedly and officially denied.

BBC analysis correspondent Ros Atkins provides an overview of the accusations against the UAE regarding potential links to the civil war in Sudan.
