Saudi-Tunisian Business Forum in Riyadh discusses enhancing investment partnerships
The Saudi-Tunisian Business Forum was held in the capital, Riyadh, today, Monday, on the sidelines of the twelfth session of the Saudi-Tunisian Joint Committee, to discuss opportunities for enhancing investment partnerships between the two brotherly countries. The event was attended by the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, and the Minister of Economy and Planning of the Republic of Tunisia, Dr. Samir Abdel Hafidh.
The forum was organized by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources in cooperation with the Ministry of Investment and the Federation of Saudi Chambers, with the participation of official leaders and more than 300 representatives from the government and private sectors of both sides.
In his opening speech, Minister Al-Khorayef emphasized the strength of the well-established Saudi-Tunisian relations, which derive their historical depth from the wise visions of the leaderships of both countries and high-level mutual visits that have formed the cornerstone for supporting economic movement and the tangible growth in the volume of trade exchange recently. He noted that the Saudi-Tunisian Business Forum constitutes an important station for strengthening investment partnerships between the two brotherly countries and transforming promising opportunities into projects with a tangible impact.
He added: “Today, we are betting on investors, businessmen, and private sector leaders in both countries to lead the growth engine in promising sectors, including advanced industries, tourism, renewable energy, and mineral wealth. Our role as governments is empowerment, legislation, and facilitating procedures, while the role of the private sector is building, innovation, and transforming these enablers into productive projects, job opportunities, and shared success stories that reflect the feasibility and depth of the partnership, toward comprehensive economic integration by benefiting from the competitive advantages of both countries.”
For his part, the Tunisian Minister of Economy and Planning, Dr. Samir Abdel Hafidh, emphasized that the Saudi-Tunisian Business Forum represents a practical platform for enhancing investment partnerships between the two countries. He pointed to the growth of Saudi investments in Tunisia in recent years, as the Kingdom is among the top ten investing countries, with a total investment volume exceeding $375 million by the end of 2024.
Abdel Hafidh noted that his country possesses competitive investment components, including an abundance of engineering and technical competencies and the ability to absorb major projects, particularly in the sectors of renewable energy, automotive and aircraft component manufacturing, pharmaceutical industries, and food industries.
In a related context, the Chairman of the Saudi-Tunisian Business Council, Dr. Omar Al-Ajaji, stressed the importance of the private sector’s role in strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries, stating that the forum plays an important role in enabling business communities to explore promising opportunities in both countries and open broader horizons for integration in promising sectors, especially in industry, technology, and supply chains.
During his speech at the forum, the President of the Tunisian Union of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts, Dr. Samir Majoul, stressed the necessity of creating a regulatory environment that stimulates investment and building sustainable strategic partnerships that contribute to increasing trade and investment exchange between the Kingdom and the Republic of Tunisia.
The Saudi-Tunisian Business Forum reflects the shared visions of the two countries in building effective investment partnerships that open broader horizons for cooperation and economic integration, and contribute to the development of intra-regional trade, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, and achieving the goals of comprehensive and sustainable development for both countries.
