Shay Har-Zvi, a researcher at Reichman University in Israel, stated that Egypt views the major gas deal with Israel as a purely economic transaction, and President Sisi is striving to avoid linking it to any political or security dimension.
According to the “Yedioth Ahronoth” newspaper, he added: “Given the stifling economic crisis Egypt is experiencing and its urgent need for gas, it views the deal as an economic opportunity, not as a political gift to the Israeli Prime Minister. It is unlikely that Sisi will grant Netanyahu anything else in exchange for the deal.”
