The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) concluded the activities of the two strategic initiatives “Kafa’a” (Efficiency) and “Siberani” (Cyber), specialized in the military field, in the Maldivian capital, Male.
The closing ceremony was attended by the Assistant Military Commander in the Islamic Coalition, Major General Pilot Staff Abdullah bin Hamed Al-Qurashi, and Commodore Mohamed Saleem, Commander of the Southern Fleet in the Maldivian Ministry of Defense, along with a number of specialized military and security leaders.
The activities of the two initiatives included the implementation of qualitative and integrated training programs, aimed at raising the level of field and digital readiness, and enhancing the capabilities of national cadres in the Republic of Maldives, in line with the nature of modern security threats and cross-border terrorism challenges.
The “Kafa’a” initiative focused on enhancing the readiness of the Maldivian forces in the naval domain, especially in dealing with sea mines and high-risk operational environments, through a training package that combined theoretical qualification and practical application. It included introducing the types of mines and their mechanisms of action, methods of detection and clearance, in addition to advanced field training that includes underwater work and the use of modern equipment and techniques simulating realistic scenarios.
As for the “Siberani” initiative, its goals were to build more efficient and resilient cyber systems, through specialized programs in digital protection, electronic threat detection, cyber incident response management, and enhancing the security of the technical infrastructure, thus contributing to supporting national security and protecting vital systems.
During the closing ceremony, Major General Al-Qurashi reviewed the outcomes of the training programs and the level of development achieved by the trainees, stressing that these initiatives embody the Islamic Coalition’s keenness to transfer expertise and build sustainable capabilities for member states, according to a practical methodology that considers the specificity of each state and its security needs.
For his part, Commodore Mohamed Saleem praised the ongoing cooperation with the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition, valuing the tangible results achieved in developing the skills of naval and cyber cadres, stressing that these initiatives represent a qualitative addition to the path of enhancing the defensive readiness of the Republic of Maldives.
The conclusion of the “Kafa’a” and “Siberani” initiatives comes as an extension of the Islamic Coalition’s efforts to support member states and build their military and technical capabilities, within a comprehensive vision aimed at promoting security and stability, and raising the level of coordination and joint action to confront terrorism and extremism in all its forms, in line with regional and international security changes.
