The New York Times reveals the U.S. helicopter unit involved in Maduro’s arrest

The New York Times, citing U.S. officials, revealed the helicopter unit that participated in the operation to arrest Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro this Saturday.

According to the newspaper, General Dan Kane, Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, did not specify the helicopter unit involved in the Caracas operation, but U.S. officials confirmed it was the “160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment,” which utilizes modified MH-60 and MH-47 helicopters.

This regiment is known as the “Night Stalkers” and specializes in high-risk missions, such as insertions, extractions, and raids, conducted at low altitudes and during nighttime. It is worth noting that the Pentagon conducted training for such a unit near the coast of Venezuela in recent months.

In the same context, U.S. President Donald Trump, in a press conference held Saturday evening from his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, disclosed precise details of the final moments leading up to President Maduro’s arrest.
