The Saudi King and Crown Prince Send Condolences Following the Death of the Libyan Chief of Staff in a Plane Crash
Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) — The Saudi King, Salman bin Abdulaziz, and the Saudi Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, sent on Friday two cables of condolences to the President of the Libyan Presidential Council in the west of the country, Mohamed al-Menfi, on the death of the Chief of General Staff of the Libyan Army and his companions, following the crash of the plane carrying them.
This came as an expression of Saudi interest in Libyan affairs and the brotherly feelings between Saudi Arabia and Libya, and in honor of the Libyan President and the Chief of Staff, who held his position from 2014 until his death.
King Salman bin Abdulaziz said in his condolence cable: “We learned with great sorrow the news of the death of the brave Libyan Lieutenant General, the Chief of General Staff of the Libyan Army, and his companions, following the crash of the plane carrying them. As we send to Your Excellency and to the families of the deceased our deepest condolences and sincere sympathy.”
The Saudi Crown Prince added in his cable: “As we offer His Excellency and the families of the victims of the accident our sincere condolences and stand by them during this difficult stage, we ask the Almighty to cover the deceased and those who passed with Him in His mercy, and to grant their families and citizens the strength of patience and endurance.”
