The United States Launches Phase Two of the Gaza Ceasefire Plan
The United States announced on Wednesday the start of the second phase of the ceasefire plan in the Gaza Strip, coinciding with the formation of a new committee responsible for managing the stricken strip.
U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff stated that the second phase of the 20-point plan will focus primarily on “demilitarization, establishing a technocratic governance system, and implementing reconstruction operations.”
However, observers noted that Witkoff’s statements lacked key details on how to implement some of the more complex points stipulated in the agreement.
Witkoff later posted on X, saying: “The United States expects Hamas to fully adhere to its commitments…”
