The U.S. administration announced, early Saturday, the composition of the Peace Council in the Gaza Strip, as the Palestinian technocratic committee for managing the Strip began its work, two days after the start of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.

The names announced by the U.S. administration included U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

The White House appointed Aryeh Lightstone and Josh Greenbaum as advisors to the Peace Council, noting that a Gaza Executive Council is being established in support of the Office of the High Representative and the National Committee for the Management of Gaza, with Nickolay Mladenov appointed to the position of High Representative for Gaza.

The White House also appointed General Jasper Jeffers as commander of the International Stabilization Force.

The U.S. plan, revealed late last year under which a fragile ceasefire in Gaza was reached, indicates that Trump will chair the council.

Earlier on Friday, the head of the Palestinian National Committee for the Management of the Gaza Strip, Ali Shaath, stated in press remarks that the committee has officially begun its work from Cairo, in preparation for moving to the Gaza Strip to commence the implementation of an urgent relief plan for the Palestinian people.

Following Israeli delays, Witkoff announced last Wednesday the start of the second phase of the agreement, which includes the transition to demilitarization, the formation of a technocratic government, and the commencement of reconstruction.
