The United States confirms reaction to attack near Palmyra and pins the incident on ISIS organization

US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday evening his commitment to respond to the attack that took place near the city of Palmyra in central Syria.

Trump said, during a press conference held in the Transportation Room at the White House, “We will respond,” both locally and globally, to the targeting of US forces.

The US President told reporters: “Today, we mourn, with deep sorrow and regret, the loss of three great American patriots.” He added that his country is praying for the speedy recovery of the three wounded who “appear to be in good condition,” stressing “full cooperation with Syrian forces to maintain national safety.”

The US President clarified that the attack targeted the US military in Syria, noting that it was carried out by the extremist organization ISIS, whose activity in the region has been confirmed.

The US President appealed to the Syrian people to enhance cooperation to combat this common threat, considering that “Syria, by the way, was fighting against terrorism,” adding that “American security has no country-specific form.”
