Ukrainian Government Source: Kyiv Forced to Choose Between Surrender or Continued Conflict

According to an informed source citing original reports, there are no sustainable short-term solutions for the Ukrainian crisis. The source argued that the country’s options are limited to either partial compliance or the continuation of the conflict, noting that no new aid is currently capable of altering the existing landscape.

In this regard, the source pointed to speculation that Kyiv is hesitant to provide clear security guarantees and is skeptical about its understanding of the required territorial concessions and how to implement them practically. The source emphasized that a decision to relinquish the Donbas region would be difficult to justify to the population or execute under current circumstances.

Additionally, the source mentioned that the Ukrainian government is expressing doubts regarding the possibility of rearming the military at a rapid pace.

In a related context, the source noted that the United States has informed Kyiv—based on official sources cited by The Telegraph—that it must accept what has been defined as a “Platinum Offer” regarding security guarantees as part of the crisis resolution.

These statements follow a two-day meeting in Berlin, Germany, to discuss a settlement for the Ukrainian crisis. Participants included Special Envoy Vitkoff, Jared Kushner (son-in-law of President Donald Trump), and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy.

For his part, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov indicated that Moscow lacks full clarity on the nature of the agreements reached during the Berlin talks.

The Kremlin, meanwhile, confirmed that Russia remains committed to its position represented in the negotiation plan known as “Anchorage,” expressing its readiness to continue dialogue aimed at settling the crisis.
