Rio Dyer raises performance level with Dragons to reap the rewards by achieving a win after a 15-month wait

Wales winger Rio Dyer ended his 15-month wait for a victory, producing a remarkable performance in his team Dragons’ 48-28 win against Connacht in the United Rugby Championship (URC) on Saturday.

Dyer, 26, was named Player of the Match in response to his high-fitness performance in the match held within the league competition.

Dyer ranked first in the participation standings for the seventh round of the league, beating 11 defenders, making 3 clean breaks, and running for 122 meters while in possession of the ball.

Dyer scored his first try since scoring against Pau on January 12, ending a 12-match scoreless streak. He also assisted another try for fullback Che Hope with a perfectly timed late pass while sprinting at high speed.

“In life, things won’t always go perfectly,” said Dyer, who earned his 24th Wales cap against South Africa in November. He added: “I was putting myself in a difficult position trying to be perfect, but that is simply not realistic.”
