Gaza suffers from difficult humanitarian conditions amid continued Israeli violations and deteriorating weather conditions
The Gaza Strip is experiencing difficult humanitarian conditions in light of continued Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement and harsh weather conditions that exacerbate existing difficulties, along with the difficulty of reaching the second phase of the agreement.
The Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, revealed an imminent meeting between mediators on Friday, aimed at developing a vision on how to transition to the second phase of the Gaza agreement.
He emphasized the urgent need to transition to the second phase of the agreement in Gaza and form a Palestinian civilian administration as soon as possible, noting that “there are many elements in the agreement to end the war in Gaza that must be completed.”
In a related context, the United Nations and various relief organizations warned that humanitarian operations in the Palestinian territories, especially in Gaza, are at high risk of collapse if Israel does not remove obstacles that include “problematic, arbitrary, and highly politicized” registration processes.
The heavy rains experienced by the Gaza Strip in recent days have worsened the harsh living conditions in an area largely destroyed by intensive Israeli bombardment, leading to the flooding of tents made of primitive materials, which increased the suffering of the Strip’s residents.
In the occupied West Bank, dozens of residents of the Nur Shams refugee camp returned yesterday, Wednesday, after being recently displaced, to recover their personal belongings before the Israeli army demolished 25 residential buildings there, indicating continued tension and sudden actions in the region.
The Hamas movement called on the United States today, Thursday, to pressure Israel to implement the requirements for fully stopping the war, including the faster entry of relief for refugees in need and the reopening of vital crossings to allow freedom of movement for individuals and relief shipments.
The United Nations and 200 international relief organizations also urged the international community to pressure Israel to lift restrictions preventing the immediate arrival of humanitarian aid and to secure safe conditions for the civilian population in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
