Reports indicate an upcoming Syrian-Israeli meeting mediated by the U.S. to finalize a security agreement
The “i24NEWS” channel, quoting a Syrian source, reported that Syrian and Israeli officials are expected to meet soon, likely in Paris with U.S. mediation, to finalize a security agreement.
The source told the English-speaking channel: “There is very optimistic talk indicating the possibility of opening an Israeli embassy in Damascus, given the significant progress in the possibility of Syria joining the Abraham Accords.”
The Syrian source added: “The talks will also focus on various potential joint strategic and economic projects in the buffer zones between the two countries.”
The source pointed out that “the original Syrian plan was limited to a security agreement and the opening of an Israeli liaison office in Damascus without diplomatic status, but developments are accelerating remarkably under pressure from the United States, specifically from President Trump himself, and in light of increasing Syrian openness.”
The channel explained that “if Damascus is able to reach an integration agreement with the Druze in southern Syria, similar to its agreement with the Kurds in the northeast, and Israel commits to respecting Syria’s unity and territorial integrity, then…”
