Rescue teams continue search operations for survivors<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Local and international rescue teams continue their efforts to search for survivors under the rubble of collapsed buildings in Venezuela, nearly six days after the two earthquakes that struck the country, at a time when rescue operations are still ongoing despite the challenges faced by teams working in the affected areas.<\/p>\n

El Salvador\u2019s President Nayib Bukele announced, in a post on the platform \u201cX,\u201d that his country\u2019s rescue teams were able, in the early hours of Tuesday morning, to reach a 44-year-old man who had been trapped under the rubble of a shopping center in the coastal city of Maiquet\u00eda.<\/p>\n

Providing water to one of the survivors until extraction<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Bukele explained that rescue teams supplied the man with water through a tube, while waiting to find a safe way to extract him from beneath the rubble, as efforts continue to rescue him without exposing him or rescue teams to any risks.<\/p>\n

In a related context, rescue teams from the fire department in the Ecuadorian capital Quito, which were dispatched to participate in relief operations, announced that they were able, on Monday, to rescue a 12-year-old boy from the rubble.<\/p>\n

The teams confirmed, in a post on the platform \u201cX,\u201d that finding survivors five days after the earthquakes represents a strong motivation to continue search operations, noting that they will continue their efforts as long as there is still a chance of finding people alive.<\/p>\n

Ongoing international support for affected areas<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Amid the ongoing rescue operations, several countries have moved to provide support to Venezuela in confronting the aftermath of the disaster, as authorities announced that the country has received aid from 30 countries.<\/p>\n

The assistance included, according to the authorities, around 1,000 tons of humanitarian supplies, in addition to the participation of more than 3,600 rescue and support personnel, as well as 118 trained dogs to assist in search and rescue operations in the affected areas.<\/p>\n

Rising death toll from the earthquakes<\/strong><\/h2>\n

At the same time, the Venezuelan government announced that the death toll from the two consecutive earthquakes that struck the country on Wednesday has risen to 1,719 people, while search and rescue operations continue in several affected areas, amid hopes of finding more survivors under the rubble.<\/p>\n
