The Israeli military responded to the film \u201cNaza,\u201d directed by two Israeli filmmakers and dealing with the killing of civilians in the Gaza Strip, denying the allegations contained in it and saying: \u201cThese claims are untrue, and we are a moral army.\u201d<\/p>\n
Israeli military spokesman Brigadier General \u201cEfi Defrin\u201d said that the film had not yet been released in full, but that the trailer contains \u201ca series of serious and false allegations against the military and its personnel,\u201d stressing that some of them had been presented in a distorted and misrepresented manner and detached from the reality on the ground.<\/p>\n
\u201cDefrin\u201d stressed that the Israeli military is \u201ca moral army that operates in accordance with international law and under binding professional values and standards,\u201d affirming that these rules are what it has adhered to over the past three years and will continue to adhere to even under the most difficult combat conditions, in defense of the military institution\u2019s conduct in the field.<\/p>\n
The spokesman called on the filmmakers to allow military representatives to watch the film in full, with the aim of holding \u201can objective and professional discussion based on facts,\u201d and allowing the military to respond objectively to every allegation contained in it.<\/p>\n
The documentary won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival last Saturday. It was directed by Israelis \u201cYuval Abraham\u201d and \u201cRachel Tsor,\u201d who also won an Academy Award in 2025 for the film \u201cNo Other Land,\u201d which dealt with violence by Israeli settlers in the West Bank.<\/p>\n
\u201cNaza\u201d sparked widespread controversy in Israel, as Israeli Culture Minister \u201cMiki Zohar\u201d called for the filmmakers to be stripped of their Israeli citizenship, accusing them of \u201chigh treason.\u201d<\/p>\n
