In new escalatory statements, \u201cHabibullah Sayyari,\u201d Deputy Commander of the Iranian Army for Coordination Affairs, affirmed that Iranian forces are not afraid of waging wars when it comes to protecting the country\u2019s sovereignty and security.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the Xiangshan Forum in Beijing today, Wednesday, \u201cSayyari\u201d condemned what he described as the various forms of repression practiced by the United States, noting that \u201cthe long-standing interventions of external powers have led to the fragmentation of the unity of the region in the Middle East,\u201d according to Reuters.<\/p>\n
His statements came as U.S. strikes on Iranian unmanned boats in the Strait of Hormuz resumed in recent days, alongside reports of explosions being heard on Iran\u2019s Qeshm Island, amid rising tensions between Tehran and Washington.<\/p>\n
In contrast, Iranian President \u201cMasoud Pezeshkian\u201d recently affirmed that his country does not want war, while expressing readiness to return to the negotiating table with the United States, provided that Iranian demands are met. \u201cPezeshkian\u201d also warned of the repercussions of the economic and living crisis, calling for it to be addressed so that it does not weaken the country and its unity and force it to negotiate from a position of weakness.<\/p>\n
The war between Iran and the United States is entering its seventh month, with no indications of an imminent resolution, particularly after the preliminary agreement reached by the two sides in June collapsed due to continued disagreements over a number of issues, foremost among them the administration of the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n
Tehran insists on managing the vital waterway alongside Muscat, while imposing transit fees on cargo ships or receiving payment for services, whereas Washington completely rejects this and stresses the need for ships to pass through the strait without any restrictions.<\/p>\n
