Chinese Foreign Minister “Wang Yi” said today, Thursday, commenting on Iranian President “Masoud Pezeshkian’s” remarks regarding the Strait of Hormuz, that the parties concerned should continue seeking a peaceful solution, calling for an end to the U.S.-Iranian conflict through dialogue, according to Reuters.

The Chinese call came after “Pezeshkian” focused during his speech before the United Nations General Assembly yesterday on the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports and the Strait of Hormuz, through which a large share of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas shipments passed before the war. “Pezeshkian” said that everyone cannot benefit from the Strait of Hormuz while Iran is denied access to shipping traffic through it, adding that the continued deployment of hostile fleets and the expansion of the scope of the war would not lead to peace. He also stressed that the Iranian people would not submit to pressure.

Before the outbreak of the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran on February 28, the Strait of Hormuz normally saw around 125 large commercial vessels pass through it daily, including oil and gas tankers, bulk carriers, and container ships, a level of traffic that represented around 20% of the world’s daily supplies of crude oil and liquefied natural gas. However, shipping traffic through the strait has declined significantly in recent months.

In the same context, a senior Iranian official revealed yesterday that Tehran and Washington’s positions remain sharply divided over ways to end the war, but stressed the need for diplomacy to continue. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that Iran was studying the U.S. response to its proposals for ending the war, which prioritize lifting the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

United News Network – UNN Arabic

An independent media platform that provides reliable news and objective analysis, and seeks to promote peace and cultural dialogue around the world, to convey the truth and build bridges of understanding among peoples.

For more news, visit our homepage:

https://un-news.org

Author: Counselor Faisal Al-Mutairi.

Publication Date: September 24, 2026.

Updated: September 2026.

China renewed its call for resolving the conflict between the United States and Iran through dialogue, stressing the need for all parties to seek a peaceful option.
