The name of sports broadcaster \u201cMedhat Shalaby\u201d topped search engines in Egypt, coinciding with new developments in the case filed against him over allegations of insulting and defaming \u201cMahmoud El Khatib,\u201d chairman of Al Ahly Club\u2019s Board of Directors. The Economic Court scheduled October 14, 2026, for the trial of \u201cMedhat Shalaby,\u201d after the case was referred to it under its jurisdiction.<\/p>\n
The case dates back to a complaint filed by Al Ahly Club\u2019s Board of Directors against \u201cMedhat Shalaby\u201d over remarks he made during his television program, which the club considered offensive to \u201cMahmoud El Khatib\u201d and the club.<\/p>\n
According to the case documents, the complaint included allegations of insult and defamation and the publication of statements that the complainant considered offensive, before the case was referred to the Economic Court after being reviewed by the competent investigative authorities.<\/p>\n
