Jaguar is seeking a new foothold among wealthy American car buyers, but its latest model may face a problem finding enough space in parking spots in its home country.<\/p>\n
Its electric Type 01, unveiled in New York, is more than 5.2 meters long and two meters wide, in a paradox that reflects the British brand\u2019s shift toward a younger and wealthier audience, which it hopes to attract with striking design and advanced technologies.<\/p>\n
The issue is not limited to the car\u2019s size, as the choice of New York for its unveiling aligns with Jaguar\u2019s drive to strengthen its presence in the U.S. market and attract new buyers. This model puts the company to a real test of its ability to turn its striking presence into commercial demand that supports a new launch for the brand.<\/p>\n
The car\u2019s dimensions are among its most controversial features, as its length exceeds the standard British parking space length of 4.8 meters by more than about 40 centimeters, meaning that parking it in such a space would leave part of the vehicle outside the designated boundaries.<\/p>\n
This presence is further enhanced by a long hood, a low roof, and 23-inch wheels, as part of a design that draws inspiration from some of Jaguar\u2019s historic cars while presenting them in a new electric form.<\/p>\n
The cabin features four individual seats and a 24-inch main display, continuing the company\u2019s bet on combining luxury and technology.<\/p>\n
To reinforce this approach, Jaguar equipped the car with three electric motors delivering more than 1,000 horsepower, with the ability to accelerate from a standstill to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.2 seconds.<\/p>\n
The company expects the car to achieve a range of around 644 kilometers under the U.S. testing standard, with the possibility of adding around 322 kilometers in 13 minutes using compatible fast charging.<\/p>\n
The range and charging-speed figures remain estimates announced by the company and may be affected in real-world use by driving conditions, battery condition, and equipment. Orders are scheduled to open in early 2027, with a starting price of \u00a3130,000 in Britain, while deliveries are expected to begin during the second half of the year.<\/p>\n
The launch of the Type 01 comes after Jaguar reintroduced its brand identity, which sparked controversy following the appearance of the pink Type 00 concept in 2024.<\/p>\n
The new production model, meanwhile, adopts more subdued colors while retaining its bold design, reflecting the company\u2019s desire to move into a different phase.<\/p>\n
