The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday that it had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched toward the city of Dhahran, noting that shrapnel from the interception fell in a residential area of the city.<\/p>\n
Major General Turki Al-Maliki, the ministry\u2019s spokesperson, said in a statement posted on the ministry\u2019s account on the X platform that a ballistic missile heading toward Haradh in the Eastern Province had been intercepted and destroyed.<\/p>\n
In the Riyadh region, the ministry announced the interception and destruction of a cruise missile. It also announced the downing of two drones in the Riyadh and Southern regions, in addition to the interception and destruction of three cruise missiles of the same type in the two regions.<\/p>\n
Earlier on Tuesday, Saudi Arabia announced that it had carried out a specialized military operation to neutralize vital facilities that, it said, the Houthi group uses to support its war effort and threaten the Kingdom and international waterways.<\/p>\n
Al-Maliki explained that the Houthis use civilian facilities and vital resources to support their military operations, including the Al-Sabahah central station in Sana\u2019a, underground reserve fuel depots, and fuel tanks and dedicated loading and unloading berths in Hodeidah, Sana\u2019a, and Dhamar.<\/p>\n
He added that using these resources to provide direct support for military operations deprives the Yemeni people of the opportunity to benefit from them in meeting their basic needs. Al-Maliki noted that these sites are used to support the arsenal of missiles and drones that threatens Saudi Arabia and the safety of airports, ports, and commercial vessels in the Red Sea.<\/p>\n
