Palestinian workers will also be barred from entering Israeli settlements in the West Bank and the Jordan Valley on Sunday and Monday, except for industrial zones and a limited number of approved sites.<\/p>\n<p>These measures come as an Israeli military operation continues in the West Bank following an armed attack near the city of Hebron on Friday that killed two Israeli soldiers and wounded three others. The two suspected Palestinian assailants, who were also from Hebron, were killed.<\/p>\n<p>In this context, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that around 2,000 Palestinians had been displaced from their homes in Hebron. In remarks to Israel\u2019s Kan public broadcaster, he noted that special army units were conducting operations in the city.<\/p>\n<p>Katz added that displaced residents would not be allowed to return to their neighborhoods in Hebron \u201cuntil we resolve all the problems with Hamas in Hebron.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, the Israeli military announced that it had decided to bar Palestinian workers from entering Israeli residential communities in the West Bank and the Jordan Valley for work, effective Sunday through Monday, with the exception of industrial zones and a limited number of approved sites. The decision was based on a field assessment of the situation.<\/p>\n<p>The military explained that the political leadership had approved the measure, following a recommendation from the security establishment, to prevent Palestinian workers from entering or leaving the West Bank and the Jordan Valley, including industrial zones.
