Axios: U.S., European, and Ukrainian officials to discuss Trump’s plan next Saturday
ABC TV reported, citing a Ukrainian official close to the negotiation front, that Ukraine has submitted its amendments to the 20-point U.S. settlement plan aimed at easing the Ukrainian crisis.
The source noted that the number of points remained the same, but some items were revised to address regional issues (territorial matters) and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant.
Papel reported Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky saying: “We submitted our response to the plan adjusted by the United States and discussed it in Russia. We involved the Europeans in drafting this version. This is not the final plan. The first plan has already been revised—from 28 points to 20 points.”
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed disappointment over the Ukrainian president’s lack of readiness to engage with the peace proposal to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
Axios, citing informed sources, expects a meeting in Paris on Saturday with senior U.S. officials and prominent representatives from Ukraine, France, Germany, and the UK to discuss Trump’s peace plan.
The meeting aims to “reach a consensus on Trump’s peace plan” amid ongoing transatlantic tensions on the matter.
According to the U.S. site, Ukraine submitted its detailed response on Wednesday to the latest draft of the American peace plan, including new ideas on how to resolve outstanding issues such as territories and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
Previously, the U.S. administration announced a plan to settle the Ukrainian crisis. Regarding Russia, the Kremlin stated that Russia remains committed to talks signed in Anchorage. On December 2, President Vladimir Putin received U.S. special presidential envoy Steve Whitkov and Jared Kushner, the U.S. president’s son-in-law, at the Kremlin to discuss the American peace plan for Ukraine.
