Zelenskyy emphasizes the importance of clear security guarantees before any peace settlement with Russia
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Monday that Kyiv needs a transparent understanding and complete certainty regarding how its allies will guarantee its security before making any decisions regarding the front line in any potential peace settlement with Russia.
Speaking at a press conference in the German capital, Berlin, alongside German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Zelenskyy added: “Before we leave the battlefield, we must be absolutely certain of what these security guarantees are.”
The Ukrainian President has long indicated that his country needs clear guarantees from its allies that ensure a strong and decisive response from their side should any violation of the peace agreement occur or if Russia renews its aggression in any form after signing.
