Heavy rains flood displacement camps in Gaza, threatening thousands of families
Heavy rains and strong winds in Gaza flooded tents and shelters, threatening thousands of families displaced by two years of war.
After many residential buildings were damaged by previous bombardments, a night of torrential rain and powerful storms pushed the city beyond its limits. No injuries were reported, but the violent storm caused several buildings to collapse amid the harshest weather Gaza has seen this winter.
The tent camps in the Gaza Strip, now home to hundreds of thousands of displaced people, are facing the worst living conditions. Floodwaters swept through the camp located in central Gaza City, where residents—without any safe shelter—tried to stay safe during the severe flooding.
