A $6.7$ magnitude earthquake strikes the coast of Aomori, Japan, leading to tsunami warnings
A powerful earthquake of approximately $6.7$ magnitude on the Richter scale struck the eastern coast of Japan’s Aomori region, located at the northern tip of the main island of Honshu, on Friday morning, according to officials.
The earthquake occurred around 11:44 AM local time, with its epicenter at a depth of about 20 kilometers, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
The agency issued tsunami warnings for the Pacific coastlines in several regions: Aomori, Iwate, and Miyagi, and a similar warning was issued for the central Pacific coast of Hokkaido Island.
