Israel Targets Central Quneitra Countryside in Airstrikes in Southern Syria

The Israeli military artillery shelled the central countryside of Quneitra in southern Syria on Sunday, in the latest escalation in the area.

The Syrian state broadcaster “Al-Ikhbariya” reported that Israeli forces shelled the vicinity of the village of “Eastern Samadaniyah” with an artillery shell in the central countryside of Quneitra.

Previously, the Israeli military had launched an attack with seven artillery shells on the town of “Al-Rafid” in the Quneitra countryside, following incursions and search operations carried out by its forces on Saturday evening.

“Syria TV” reported that Israeli forces targeted the southern outskirts of “Al-Rafid” with seven artillery shells, followed by gunfire from “Tel al-Jalaa” in the occupied Golan toward agricultural lands, noting that another Israeli patrol had also made an incursion into the village of “Umm al-Batina” in the central Quneitra countryside.

It also indicated that Israeli forces fired over houses in the western neighborhood of the village of “Maaria” in the western Daraa countryside.

In a related development, the “Sajel” Human Rights Center documented 267 “violations” committed by Israeli forces inside Syrian territory during August, bringing the total number of documented violations since the beginning of 2026 to 1,752 “violations.”
