Pakistan: We Stand Firmly and in Solidarity with Saudi Arabia

Pakistani Prime Minister “Shehbaz Sharif” strongly condemned the attempt to target Makkah Al-Mukarramah, affirming that his country stands firmly and in solidarity with Saudi Arabia following an attempt by Houthi militias to target southern Makkah.

In a statement today, Wednesday, “Sharif” stressed Pakistan’s support for the Kingdom in defending the security and sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques, describing the attempted targeting as “a disgraceful, condemned, and unforgivable act.”

The Pakistani prime minister praised the exceptional vigilance, courage, and professionalism demonstrated by the Saudi armed forces, noting their swift and heroic response in dealing with the threat. “Sharif” renewed his call for exercising the utmost restraint and avoiding escalation, stressing that the region has already suffered more than it should from conflicts.

The condemnation came after the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announced that Saudi air defenses had intercepted and destroyed yesterday, Tuesday, a drone launched by the Houthis toward southern Makkah Al-Mukarramah before it entered the prohibited airspace.

The coalition’s spokesperson, Major General “Turki Al-Maliki,” said that “the security of the Two Holy Mosques and the pilgrims is a red line,” affirming that the Coalition Joint Forces Command would not hesitate to take the necessary and deterrent measures against the Houthis and their hostile and terrorist conduct.

Saudi Arabia had issued security warnings covering Makkah and other cities following a week that witnessed attacks and attempts carried out by Iran-aligned fighters, amid escalating conflict in the Middle East between Iran and the United States.
