The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, condemned the decision of the security cabinet in the Israeli occupation state to approve the establishment of 19 new settlements in the occupied West Bank.
Aboul Gheit considered that the decision reflects a flagrant defiance of the international will that rejects settlement activity, and a clear violation of international law which affirms the illegality of settlements.
In a statement issued today, Aboul Gheit said: “The clear expansion of illegal settlement aims to prevent the establishment of a geographically contiguous Palestinian state, and reflects the nature of the Israeli government, which is controlled by extremists and settlers.”
The Secretary-General of the Arab League emphasized that the expansion of settlements will not make them legitimate under any circumstances, stressing that the violence practiced by extremist settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank is a form of terrorism, taking place under the eyes of the occupation state and with the protection of its official apparatus.
