Deceptive Video: Alleged Clashes on Syrian Coast Turn Out to Be Old
A video clip has been circulated across various social media platforms, claiming to show the moment of clashes between Syrian security forces and armed elements affiliated with the former regime in a village in the coastal Latakia governorate.
The clip shows a journalist in the background, and vehicles belonging to Syrian security authorities can be observed, in addition to the sound of gunfire in the background.
The clip was accompanied by a misleading description of the event, identifying its location as “clashes between the Internal Security Forces and remnants of the regime in the village of Baabda in the Jableh area of the Latakia countryside.”
Despite the wide circulation, the verification team at CNN Arabic revealed that the video is old, and that there are no reliable reports confirming the occurrence of any similar clashes at the present time. There are no reliable reports to date regarding such events.
