First Automated Landing of an Aircraft Following an In-Flight Emergency

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN)—A new milestone in aviation history was witnessed today as an autonomous aircraft performed its first automated landing following an emergency during its flight.

The manufacturer of the system reported that the automated landing was successfully completed, as the Beechcraft Super King Air 200 was able to land safely as soon as it came to a halt on the runway of Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport near Denver, USA.

United News Network reports that the two pilots emerged unharmed from the aircraft after the automated control system, which was installed on board, guided the plane to a safe landing, as shown in a video clip posted by first responders.

Reports reaching us from reliable sources state that the aircraft was under the control of the Garmin Autoland system. The manufacturer confirms that the system operates efficiently, noting that a large number of aircraft have installed this advanced device, with it currently believed that approximately 1,700 aircraft are equipped with this technology.
