Egyptian Foreign Minister Works to Enhance Efforts to Recover Smuggled Egyptian Antiquities
The Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, has directed Egyptian embassies to intensify their efforts to recover Egyptian antiquities that were smuggled or illegally moved out of the country.
This directive came during a meeting held by the Minister with officials from the Cultural Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to a statement issued by the Ministry.
Abdelatty emphasized, according to the statement, the necessity of activating efforts aimed at retrieving artifacts that were illegally smuggled abroad.
He pointed out the importance of the role of Egyptian diplomats in conducting official consultations with the governments of countries where smuggled Egyptian antiquities are located, with the aim of discussing ways to return them to Egypt within a legal framework and through international cooperation.
