Russian Foreign Minister approaches “retaliatory strikes” after claiming Ukrainian attack targeted Putin’s residence

CNN—Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced on Monday that Russia’s negotiating position with Ukraine is nearing a shift following what was alleged to be a Ukrainian drone targeting one of the main residences of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Novgorod region.

Kyiv immediately denied any reports regarding this attack, considering it military content.

Lavrov explained in his statements that “Russia’s negotiating position will be reconsidered” in the peace talks being conducted by Russia and Ukraine aimed at ending the ongoing armed conflict. He added that the alleged incident did not result in any material damage or injuries, but the Russian Armed Forces pointed to the existence of specific targets for “retaliatory strikes” that will be carried out.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy denied this Russian claim regarding the attack that targeted Putin’s residence, describing it as a Russian allegation.
